Performance of Winter-Sown Chickpea Breeding Lines with Contrasting Levels of Resistance to Ascochyta Blight

چکیده

Multi-environment field testing of chickpea accessions winter sown in Southern Spain showed that environmental effects on yield were more important than genotypic and GEI. The most detrimental factor grain was ascochyta blight infection. We did not find a significant effect low temperatures the environments studied, probably due to mild winters area. On contrary, we found high at reproductive stage, particularly with numbers days Tmax >30 °C. larger infection as included previously selected for their levels resistance or susceptibility. Biplots based WAASB/productivity ratio highlighted AS19, AS30, AS23, AS26, AS18 best productivity stability yield, matching those lower MTSI index also identified these region.

An Update on Genetic Resistance of Chickpea to Ascochyta Blight

Ascochyta blight (AB) caused by Ascochyta rabiei (Pass.) Labr. is an important and widespread disease of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) worldwide. The disease is particularly severe under cool and humid weather conditions. Breeding for host resistance is an efficient means to combat this disease. In this paper, attempts have been made to summarize the progress made in identifying resistance sour...

Genetical Analysis of Ascochyta Blight Resistance in Chickpea

Ascochyta blight, caused by Ascochyta rabiei (Pass.) Lab. is a devastating disease of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) worldwide. Available genetic variation for Ascochyta blight resistance in genus Cicer has prompted interest in the development and use of resistant cultivars that can be sown in autumn and, to increase seed yield in chickpea. Understanding the mode of inheritance of resistance to ...

Response of Chickpea Lines to Ascochyta rabiei at Two Growing Stages

During winter 2004 and 2005, two field and glasshouse experiments were conducted to evaluate the response of 471 chickpea genotypes to Ascochyta rabiei, as Ascochyta blight (AB) disease in Chickpea (Cicer aurietimum). Frequent rainfall at flowering and pod formation stages made favorite conditions conducive for the infection and symptoms expression. So, the genotypes with high level of toleranc...

Molecular Breeding for Ascochyta Blight Resistance in Lentil: Current Progress and Future Directions

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) is a diploid (2n = 2x = 14), self-pollinating, cool-season, grain legume that is cultivated worldwide and is highly valuable due to its high protein content. However, lentil production is constrained by many factors including biotic stresses, majority of which are fungal diseases such as ascochyta blight (AB), fusarium wilt, rust, stemphylium blight, anthracnose, ...
